WELCOME TO K TO THE POP

Hello everyone, and welcome to K to the POP. My name is Nichada Satasuk, and I am an MBA student at the University of Southern Mississippi. For this blog, I want to write about something that I have been in love with and want to share with everyone!

I have been in love with K-pop for a couple of years now. Some might already know what K-pop is, but in the case of anyone who does not know, K-pop is Korean pop or Korean popular music. If you like listening to music, this could be another genre that you might want to consider listening to since K-pop is a musical genre that consists of a variety of other genres, such as electronic, hip-hop, rock, and R&B music. Even though you might not understand the language, the melody is good enough for you to keep listening until the end.

Also, when someone talked about K-pop, the first thing that usually comes to people's mind is a group of good looking boys or girls that can sing and dance with fantastic choreography. However, K-pop is more than that. So, for this blog, I will provide some insight into K-pop and how they become trendy nowadays. I am hoping that this blog will help you have more knowledge about K-pop.

Please comment below and share your thoughts about what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word K-pop (?).

Thank you for reading, and see you again in my next blog.

Stay tuned!!

  1. Nichada, I love your blog for a variety of reasons. I think I'm most interested because you introduced something to me that I wasn't previously aware of. After reading how K-pop music consists of a variety of other genres, it immediately made me want to go check it out. For me, it is amazing to check out other things in the world. I believe you learn a lot about people and their culture in the music that they listen to and that's a good thing!

  2. Hey, Nichada! I'm so glad you decided to blog about K-pop! I think K-pop is SO interesting, especially as it becomes increasingly popular in the U.S. For example, ZICO's song "Any Song" (Have you heard it?) is trending on TikTok with over 300K videos! That's about the extent of my K-pop knowledge, so I'm so excited to learn more about it these next few weeks!

  3. Nichada, I am really excited to read your future blog posts! I am not familiar with K-pop; I just heard about it. More specifically, I heard of the BTS group, which is getting very popular around the world; they even performed on Times Square. The first thing, after reading your blog, I went to YouTube and listened to some songs. I am looking forward to learning more about K-pop!

  4. Nichada, I am glad that you finally decided to blog about K-pop. This topic is fun and excited! Couple years ago I had a chance to take Southern Miss students to Seoul, South Korea, for a study abroad. We visited the K-pop company and area. I was surprise that our students know a lot about K-pop and can sign most songs. While K-pop isn't my thing, I do enjoy seeing students excitement! Hopefully, we can go back there next summer. If we do, I will make sure take lots of pictures for you.

  5. Hi Nichada! I am unfamiliar with K-pop, but it sounds very interesting. I hope to learn more about this genre through your blogs. It’s funny. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw your blog link was Kidz Bop which is nowhere near to the same thing, but those types of songs and their many commercials automatically popped into my head.
